The Video

In this video, you can join me and my Dad as we travel around Costa Rica for around two weeks on a birding and bird photography trip.

Tip: set quality to HD (720p)

I left for Costa Rica on June 28th. It was after dark when the plane landed, but in the morning, even in the city of San Jose, there were amazing birds. After breakfast and a short walk, it was time to head up to the first destination of the trip in the cloud forest. Starting then I got to experience nature like I had never before. Wow! Costa Rica was loaded with incredible birds. As you walk around in the forest, you see colours, hear amazing songs, and witness incredible behaviors. And the other animals are amazing as well. You can see monkeys, sloths, large rodents, and many other animals very easily. In some areas, you can find the brightly coloured Poison Dart Frogs sitting on the forest floor.

By the time I left the country on July 9th, I was completely blown away by the natural beauty. On this page, I will attempt to share as much of the incredible birds and wildlife of Costa Rica as I can.

Below these images, there are links to galleries with more images.

Collared Aracari

Costa Rica is a paradise for thousands of different creatures. These include many non-birds. Despite the fact that I was after birds, it is hard for the eye to avoid the other wildlife around. Click here to go to a gallery of wildlife (but not bird) photos.
