Persistence Paid Off!

Posted by birder on Wednesday, January 9, 2013
I often visit Queen Elizabeth Park, and I find it an awesome place to go birding. As many people may have heard, some Pine Grosbeaks had been reported in the area by the tennis courts. Eager to see the birds, I went to look for them on the 31st of December. No grosbeaks. Then I tried the 1st of January. No grosbeaks. January 4th morning. No grosbeaks. January 4th afternoon- finally! I got to see at least 5 birds feeding at distances as close as 4 meters. Here are some photos from these visits:

Purple Finch - female (January 1, morning)

American Robin - male (January 1, morning)

Red-breasted Nuthatch (January 4, morning)
