Owls and Others from Boundary Bay - November 20 2011

On November 20th, I headed out to 72nd street at Boundary Bay. Upon arriving, the main things out were Northern Harriers and Short-eared Owls. Here are some Short-eared Owl shots:






There were also thousands of Dunlin around. Some of them allowed my to get pretty close.









Around where the Dunlin were, I noticed two Snowy Owls resting. Here are three shots, one of an adult female, and two of a juvenile male.





I started walking in the other direction, and came across a single Western Medowlark. At first it was scurrying in the grass but it them flew up onto the top of a bush. That was when I took this photo:


I continued walking and I saw a flock of Trumpeter Swans flying. They were really far away, but a few minutes later I saw a flock (it could have been the same one) flying I little bit closer. Here is one photo I took of the swans:


The final neat thing I saw was a juvenile male Northern Harrier perched. Here is one photo of him:
