Boundary Bay and Stanley Park - early August 2013

Posted by Liron on Saturday, August 17, 2013
I know I'm posting from farther back than I usually do, but I never posted these shots so I thought I'd make a post.

On August 6th, I went to 104th street at Boundary Bay at the evening at high tide to try for the Red-necked Stint that had been seen. The bird didn't show up that day (I was one day late, as it had been seen the day before but not again after that), but there was two young Bonaparte's Gulls around that were about 75 meters east of 104th.

Man... my new teleconverter is really doing me wonders! Before this bird wouldn't have been in "good photo range", but thanks to the teleconverter, I managed some nice shots, including this one:

The next day I went to Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park to try for the Northern Waterthrush that had been seen, but once again, I was one day late. Other birds were around however, like these ones:

Black-throated Gray Warbler

Juvenile Swainson's Thrush

Double-crested Cormorant

Great Blue Heron

This juvenile heron didn't have much luck when it tried to land in a small tree!

Other birds around Lost Lagoon included some Wilson's Warblers, a Willow Flycatcher, and more.

Thanks for looking!
